EL7271, EL7505, EL7506, EL7507
EL7271. From 1976 to 1983 CRA conducted detailed and extensive exploration in the Garibaldi area from south of Buninyong, across the known Ballarat goldfield, and north to Creswick. Three core targets in the Buninyong regions were identified that fall within EL7271. These are the southernmost Shepard’s Flat (O’Laughlins), Pioneer and Nashes prospect to the north. The latter has seen historical working in the past, though no modern day exploration has followed up on the result.
Of the anomalies, the southernmost at Shepard’s Flat is the most significant exploration target. It coincides with low level gold in soil anomaly and minor historical workings, including alluvial sluicing on the western slope leading to the Yarrowee River.
The Company will compile the previous mapping results, structural data and seek to improve the geological understanding of the area. In particular, the Company is looking to identify any antiforms reminiscent of the Ballarat east gold mineralisation (where modern mining continues underground today producing over 50,000 ounces per annum). Tight spaced soil sampling is considered a priority and will assist in better targeting.
EL7505, EL7506 and EL7507 all lie within the EL271 Tenement area.
